Frequently asked questions
Why should I sell water softeners? It just adds to my workload.
There are loads of reasons. Increased profit for a start. And they are easy to sell and install. Don’t take long to fit (on average half a day). And your customers are always delighted with the result.
Why should I pick Tapworks?
Because Tapworks is the best. Independent research shows that Tapworks is the brand of choice for water softener installers in the UK.
How many can I expect to sell in a year?
As many as you like as the potential market is huge. Tapworks research has shown that just one in ten households in hard water areas has a water softener fitted.
What sales aids are there for Tapworks?
There is this installer’s guide for a kick off. And consumer leaflets and in-store marketing activity to encourage consumers to ask for Tapworks by name. Not forgetting the most powerful selling tool of all: word of mouth from satisfied customers.
And after sales support?
Tapworks water softeners are usually trouble free. In rare cases when there is a problem, our national service team fixes it as part of our two year warranty.
Why don’t customers just buy direct?
Because Tapworks water softeners are ONLY available from Builders and
Plumbers merchants.
Can water softeners cope with high flow rates?
Some makes of softeners restrict the flow of water to boilers – making them unsuitable for mains-fed systems. Tapworks softeners have one of the highest flow rates on the market. Easy to fit high flow installation kits are available to guarantee a constant stream of softened water to protect boilers.
Do I need to leave a supply of unsoftened water for drinking?
According to the British Water Code of Practice, a tap supplying mains drinking water should be connected where reasonably practicable. Having a supply of unsoftened water is particularly important for anyone on a sodium-restricted diet or families with young babies.
Is there a lot of sodium in softened water?
No. In fact, an adult who drinks 4 pints of softened water per day would only add
310 mg to their daily intake – which is less than 9% of the average total. Many natural
and manufactured foods and drinks contain sodium which add to this total. For example,
two slices of bread contain 350 mg.
What type of salt should be used?
Only salt recommended for water softener recharge should be used. Tapworks softeners use tablet salt which is easy to store and transport. It is readily available from garden centres, petrol stations, DIY stores and plumbers merchants.
Will softened water help dry skin conditions?
Many eczema sufferers notice benefits from the use of softened water.
